Qué vas a hacer

Join our crew aboard The Nana for a two-hour tour discovering wildlife in one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the Northern Hemisphere. The Indian River Lagoon is home to over 4,000 different plant and animal species.

In the water, you may see Lagoon Bottle-Nosed Dolphins frolicking in pods or chasing bait fish. Cruise by a West Indies Manatee as she lounges in her habitat. Bat-Rays breaching the surface, alligators cruising by, Moon Jellyfish propelling themselves along, and the world’s oldest living dinosaur, the Horseshoe Crab, cruising the bottom are all sights you may see on your tour.

Look into the sky and watch majestic Ospreys dive for fish. See the beautiful hues of pink as an endangered Roseate Spoonbill glides by. Hear the sounds of a Great Blue Heron squawking to its mate. Nesting American Bald Eagles will watch as you cruise by. Our knowledgeable crew will point out those birds and many more along the tour.

Keep your eyes peeled as you cruise alone the shorelines for panthers, bobcats, wild boars and other local land wildlife as they meander to the river for a drink. Cameras are encouraged so you can document the marvelous wildlife views of the Space Coast.

On your tour you’ll be crossing through the southern edge of Mosquito Lagoon and will be able to view some points of local interest including Kennedy Space Center and passing by the lock system

Banana River Boat Tours is owned and operated by Captain “CJ” Enneking and his wife, Jayne. Captain CJ is a true native Floridian. Growing up motor boating, sailing, and water skiing on Lake Santa Fe, outside of Gainesville, he always dreamed of working on the water.

Captain CJ’s love of the water was instilled in him by his parents. That is evident in the name of the boats, The Opa and The Nana. His father was a great fisherman and even greater storyteller. Thus, the fishing boat became The Opa, aboard which you will catch great fish and learn to tell even greater fishing tales. The Nana is a bit smaller and a bit quicker allowing you to cruise the lagoon in style and flash just like his mom.

As you can imagine, both Captain CJ and Jayne enjoy spending any spare moment they have on the water.

In two hours we saw brown and white pelicans in the air, water, and on their breeding nests. An osprey and comorants made appearances. A bottle-nose dolphin delighted us with a swim around and under Christjohn's boat as if on cue. We were introduced to Australian pines - beautiful deciduous trees, and Christjohn and his mate let us in on a little history and local info to keep the ride interesting. A beautiful chance to be on the wayer with a professional captain.

Touring the Banana River with CJ was an amazing experience. Seeing river dolphins for the first time was great as well as the variety of birds. A manatee poked his head out of the water but unfortunately We did not look quick enough. CJ was a wonderful storyteller and shared lots of information about Florida flavored with good humor. We hope to return to travel with him in the future.

CJ had many entertaining stories, and we had a really nice time. The wildlife part depends a lot on luck, we unfortunately did not see dolphins or manatees, though we saw some nice birds. Would recommend it for the experience, for seeing wildlife probably the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge is better, though not such an immersive experience as this.
