Qué vas a hacer

I will pick you up from a designated spot on the Gold Coast and drive you down to Mt Warning. Mount Warning (Indigenous name Wollumbin) was formed from an ancient volcano that erupted around 23 million years ago. It is an excellent hike through rainforest and bush, with an incredible view at the top.
We will start the climb in the morning. It is an 8.8km round trip, which usually takes 3-4 hours return, depending on your fitness level. Close to the summit, there is a steep climb for which we will use chains to ascend (note, you don't need any climbing equipment). At the top, at an elevation of 1,156m, you will have a 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape. With ocean views from the Gold Coast to Byron, and hinterland views to the west, it's a stunning sight. We will stay at the top for a panoramic-view picnic and to rest the legs before we begin our descent.
Note this is a moderately difficult climb (especially the first and last 500m) so a reasonable level of fitness is required. However, we can go at your pace and there is no pressure at all!
Other things to note
This is a moderate to strenuous hike, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. We will be hiking for a few hours, uphill. We will go at your own pace but you should be fairly comfortable with walking/hiking.

Hi, I'm Shelley. I have lived on the Gold Coast my whole life, and as a nature lover have spent countless hours exploring the great outdoors around the Gold Coast and northern NSW. I have great local knowledge and a passion for the area, and am always up for an adventure.

I am a volunteer surf lifesaver, proficient with my bronze and silver medallions (which include first aid and CPR training). I have climbed Mt Warning dozens of times and am familiar with the terrain. I also know some local hidden gems that we can see along the way. As an avid traveller myself, I am always excited to show people around the place I call home.

Dónde vas a estar

Mount Warning lies in the Tweed Range in northern New South Wales. It was formed from a volcanic plug of the now extinct Tweed Volcano.
Captain James Cook was the first European to record seeing "… a remarkable sharp-peaked mountain lying inland…" on 16 May 1770, from Cape Byron.
This beautiful place is a sacred Aboriginal site and holds great significance to the Bundjalung people; hence great care and respect must be taken here.
