Clinton's Hidden Secret, A Distillerie until 1926

Imagine the clinking of glasses, laughter and friendship during prohibition. This was Pierre Houpert's private distillerie with quite a history. Burned down before the feds stepped in, after almost 100 years it waited for new life whilst almost crumbling to the ground. Now new life breaths from every stone. Enjoy the views from any of the 3 porches. Take a walk on the trails across the street or just walk down to the reservoir to see the sunset or just listen to the history tell you the stories.

Recommended for groups of up to 4 (5 if with kids). Second bedroom (king) is open to living area-we provide a folding screen for door area and curtain for “passthrough”.

Originally from Russia (hence the name “Beriozka” meaning Birch Tree) I live in Stamford CT. About 7-8 years ago I’ve discovered Chester/ Essex area and fell in love. I’ve been coming here during summer to enjoy river rides, during winter just to see snow on the ground of old towns and needless to say during fall – when all the beauty of nature unfolds. Then came an idea to have an own place here and when an opportunity came to buy this small cottage on Cedar Lake I’ve jumped on it.

Large, one bedroom and one bath with a pull out queen size sleeper couch in the main room. Wi-Fi, Roku TV, boards games, and DVDs available. Property is located close to restaurants and many outdoor activities including the town beach and docks. There is a pass available to bring a car to the Clinton town beach.
